Solidarity and communication through technology. The initiative called "An iPad for a hello" involves, on one side, the Apulian company C&C, Apple Premium Reseller, and on the other, the social cooperative Il Sicomoro from Matera.
Thanks to this partnership, in fact, elderly residents in Lucan nursing homes, in precautionary isolation, will be able to video call their loved ones using the latest generation iPads. The long wait to get in touch with relatives using only a device provided personally by the president of the cooperative will now be just a distant memory.
"This health emergency is also changing our work, the scope, and the meaning of the word assistance. Caring for our elderly today also means allowing them to caress the screen of an iPad with the reassuring face and voice of a child - says Michele Plati, president of the social cooperative Il Sicomoro – The greatest gift that C&C has given us is not just the iPads, but having helped us understand how to best manage video calls in the complex organization of a nursing home".
From today, communicating with the outside world for all the residents in the nursing homes will therefore be much simpler. "What will remain forever imprinted in our mind – adds Michele Gigli, CEO of C&C – are the emotional faces of many elderly people to whom we have given a pinch of happiness and the possibility of being close to their loved ones in this dark historical moment for Italy".
