Today the bell rang in many Italian regions. It will be a special year for students and teachers, who will have to deal with masks, hand sanitizers, new desks and above all with distancing in the classroom and in the corridors.

At the ITTS Volta in Perugia, the largest institute in Umbria and an Apple Distinguished School since 2017, a real revolution is taking place: interactive e-books, video tutorials, and differentiated entrances will help students navigate a new era and understand the anti-Covid rules.

At the center of the back-to-school plan, there is also teaching, both in person and at a distance, the new learning environments, and the wheeled desks. This is how, with an important structural and logistical reorganization, the school, a partner of C&C Apple Authorised Education Specialist, has welcomed over 1,800 enrolled students (around 400 new enrollments).

“The organizational effort has been great – says Rita Coccia, headmistress of ITTS 'Volta’ – all the desks have been replaced thanks to the funds from the Relaunch Decree, the premises sanitized, we have equipped all spaces with alcohol gel dispensers for each class, and the school is supplying everyone with masks, we have 60,000 available, for students and teachers.”

In addition, the students in the graphics and computer science course, together with their teachers, have created an e-book, titled ‘Safely back to school’, which will be presented by the teachers in the coming days: it will be accessible through a QR code and will provide everyone with instructions on behavior to adopt at school during this historical phase still characterized by the presence of the coronavirus. The e-book consists of three interactive chapters on ‘Safe return’, ‘Well-being at school’ and ‘School rules’, with video tutorials and useful links.

“We needed to make students aware of the importance of being responsible and having correct behaviors in the face of the virus - concludes Coccia - We are well aware that young people now learn in different ways from ours and we are pleased that they have used an e-book to teach their peers the correct use of spaces”.
